The premise

What changes when the artist is the canvas?

The beauty tool category was built on one premise: an artist applying product to someone else. A brush shaped for a makeup artist working on a client is the wrong tool for doing your own face in your own mirror. We started from a different question.

The tools

Almost everything changes

The handle rests between thumb and fingers with a grip pad in the palm, so the motion comes from the wrist and not the fingertips. The fiber bundle is oriented to the plane of the face. One pass covers a cheek, and the edge diffuses itself.

The tools are meant to be beautiful in the hand and precise on the skin — gentle control and no visible edge. They are made to be picked up twice a day for years.

We are still designing. Every new brush starts from the same question as the first one.

“Artis brushes are distinct in that they have changed the beauty experience through design. Their products are not just repurposed paintbrushes with a hefty price tag.”
“The plush brush bristles feel so cushiony and pillow-soft, which makes applying foundation feel like less of a chore and more like an enjoyable facial massage.”
“The 100 Best Inventions of 2019.”
“More than 200,000 proprietary, man-made fibers called CosmeFibres that have a tapered tip and are densely packed.”
